As you may be aware, solar photovoltaics (PV) in India began its journey 50 years ago in 1976, with the establishment of Central Electronics Ltd., which initiated the production of solar cells and panels for deployment in rural and remote regions of the country. This marked a historic milestone in India's renewable energy landscape.
To commemorate this remarkable journey, we are pleased to inform you that we are organizing a one-day event titled "Harnessing the Sun for 50 Years: Commemorating the Golden Jubilee of Solar Photovoltaics in India", to be held on January 28, 2026, at the Victor Menezes Convention Centre, IIT Bombay.
The event will bring together many of the pioneers of solar PV in India, who will share their experiences and reminiscences from the early years of solar energy development in the country. The programme will also feature a panel discussion on future directions for solar photovoltaics in India.
Please find the event flyer here: Event Flyer
A tentative programme for the event is available here: Program Schedule
We would be delighted if you could join us for this special occasion, which will serve as a platform to celebrate five decades of progress, innovation, and impact in the solar sector.
