NCPRE, as knowledge partner with MNRE, conducted a session on Solar Cell Technologies: Novel Manufacturing Approaches – From Lab to Production at the 4th Global RE- INVEST 2024 which was held in Gandhinagar from September 14-16. The session was moderated by Mr. Sujoy Ghosh, Vice-President and country MD-India, First Solar. Among the panelists were Prof. Dinesh Kabra, NCPRE, IIT Bombay (Academic expert and entrepreneur, ART-PV India); Mr. Ivan Saha, CEO, Vikram Solar; Prof. Eike Weber, Vice Chairman, European Solar Manufacturing Council, Former Director General, Fraunhofer ISE, Freiburg, and Prof. Emeritus, Dept. of Materials Science, University of California Berkeley; Dr. Saravanan Somasundaram, Assistant General Manager, Emmvee Group; and Dr. Anil Kumar, MNRE The session was focused on the solar R&D innovations and latest advancements in solar cell technology, and the significant potential of perovskite solar cells, especially when combined with established technologies through tandem cell concepts. The session was well attended by investors, industries and advisor to PMO Shri Tarun Kapoor. There was excellent interaction with audience in this session, where challenges related to R&D eco-system were discussed at length. It was emphasized that indigenous equipment manufacturing, ancillaries development and working on futuristic technologies with intellectual properties are essential to become globally competitive and secure India’s energy needs via photovoltaic technologies.
