The Hon’ble Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, visited IIT Bombay on July 15, 2025 to see the PV activities at NCPRE and the start-up ART-PV India. He was hosted by the IITB Director Prof. Shireesh Kedare, and the Deputy Director Prof. Milind Atrey. Prof. B. G. Fernandes made a presentation to him about the NCPRE activities, and Prof. Dinesh Kabra, founder of ART-PV, presented the work on perovskite-silicon tandem cells. This was followed by discussions with NCPRE faculty, and visits to the NCPRE and ART-PV laboratories. The Hon’ble Minister was accompanied by Shri Sudeep Jain, MNRE Add’l Secretary and Dr. A. K. Tripathi Scientist G. In the news conference following the visit, the Hon’ble Minister said, “It is a gamechanger for India's solar energy future. This makes India a global leader in next-gen photovoltaics and by investing in such innovations, we are driving down the cost of solar energy, making it more accessible for all Indians.” Assuring continuous support from MNRE, the Hon’ble Minister emphasised the need of scaling up of this technology for commercial success, adding, “Private investment is crucial for large-scale technology development and some of the industry representatives present for the meeting today have shown great interest,” Indeed, NCPRE and ART-PV welcome interest to drive such public-private partnerships.
