The start-up company SolarMarq Engineering LLP recently received a repeat order for its Field Electroluminescence (EL) System from Burkina Faso. The company was spun off from NCPRE’s research in field reliability of solar modules, and was established in 2019 by two of NCPRE’s PhD students, Rajiv Dubey and Shashwata Chattopadhyay.
They have sold more than 35 units of the EL system in India and other countries like USA, Brazil, Spain and Saudi Arabia besides Burkina Faso. SolarMarq also uses the expertise developed by Dr. Dubey and Dr. Chattopadhyay while they were researchers at NCPRE to provide testing solutions and services for solar panels, including on-site I-V testing, EL imaging and IR thermography.
The company has completed on-site EL testing of 100,000 panels (at 10 different MW- scale power plants) and handheld IR Thermography of 4,000 panels. SolarMarq is an excellent example of how impactful research at NCPRE can translate to a successful technology- based start-up company.
