Prof. B. G. Fernandes, PI, NCPRE, presented a 3-hour regular tutorial on high-performance electrical machines with less rare-earth material usage at the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE) in Philadelphia, USA on October 19, 2025. This is the first time ever from India at this flagship IEEE conference. In this tutorial, along with a few novel ideas on electrical machine design and drives, Prof. Fernandes also highlighted the rare-earth material-free, highly efficient, low-cost, line-start as well as inverter-fed motors for irrigation pumps to be powered with PV grid.
